The Double Degree - Honours Bachelor of Science - Psychology and Bachelor of Education - Intermediate/Senior program at Lakehead University is designed for students who wish to combine their passion for psychology with a career in education. This program provides a comprehensive understanding of psychological principles while equipping students with the necessary skills to teach at the intermediate and senior levels. Students will engage in a variety of learning experiences that prepare them for both fields, ensuring they are well-rounded graduates ready to make a positive impact in their communities.

Program structure

The Double Degree program spans a total of six years, integrating both psychology and education studies. The structure of the program is as follows:

  • First Year: Introduction to psychology, science electives, social sciences electives, and education courses.
  • Second Year: Advanced psychology courses and education courses.
  • Third Year: Further psychology electives and education electives.
  • Fourth Year: Specialized psychology courses and additional electives.
  • Fifth and Sixth Years: Completion of the 2-Year Professional Program in Education.

Students are required to select two teachable subjects, with one being from the list of Intermediate/Senior teachables and the other being Social Sciences - General. Additionally, students must complete a Type E Indigenous Content course during their studies. This program offers a unique opportunity for students to gain practical teaching experience through various placements.
