Program Overview

The Double Degree - Honours Bachelor of Arts & Science - Anthropology & Bachelor of Education - Primary/Junior is a unique program offered at Lakehead University. This program is designed for students who are passionate about both the social sciences and education. It combines a comprehensive study of anthropology with the essential skills needed for teaching at the Primary and Junior levels. Students will engage in a rich curriculum that prepares them for diverse career opportunities in education and related fields.

Program Structure

The program is structured as a six-year course of study, which includes both undergraduate and professional education components. The program is divided into two main parts:

  • First Year: Introduction to anthropology and foundational courses in education.
  • Second Year: Advanced anthropology courses and further education requirements.
  • Third Year: In-depth study of anthropology and elective courses.
  • Fourth Year: Specialized anthropology courses and the option to undertake an honours thesis.
  • Fifth and Sixth Years: Completion of the 2-Year Professional Program in Education, focusing on Primary/Junior teaching.

Throughout the program, students will have opportunities for practical experiences, including co-op placements and fieldwork, which enhance their learning and prepare them for their future careers.
