The Double Degree - Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology & Bachelor of Education - Primary/Junior program at Lakehead University is designed for students who aspire to combine their passion for kinesiology with a career in education. This concurrent education program allows students to earn two degrees simultaneously, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in both fields. Program structure

The Double Degree program is structured to be completed in a six-year timeframe, with an option for an accelerated five-year completion for those who wish to fast-track their education. Key features of the program structure include:

Completion of required Kinesiology courses totaling 10.5 full course equivalents (FCEs).
Three required FCEs from Biology, English, and Chemistry departments.
One and one-half FCEs in Education courses prior to entry into the Professional Program.
Elective courses totaling 5.0 FCEs, allowing students to tailor their education based on career objectives.
A total of 20 FCEs plus Kinesiology 4193 are required for graduation.

Students must maintain a minimum cumulative average of 70% in Kinesiology courses and a 65% overall average to graduate. The program also includes options for co-op placements, providing valuable hands-on experience in the field.

Academic Requirements

To apply for the Double Degree - Honours Bachelor Of Kinesiology & Bachelor Of Education - Primary/Junior program, applicants must meet the following academic requirements:

General Admission Requirements:

Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD);
A minimum of 6 Grade 12U or M courses, or equivalent, including program-specific prerequisite courses;
A minimum overall final average of 70%*.

*Higher averages may be required for admission to programs in which the demand for places by qualified applicants exceeds the supply of available spaces.

Program Specific Prerequisite Requirements:

For Ontario High School Students:
- English (ENG4U);
- 1 from: Advanced Functions (MHF4U), Calculus & Vectors (MCV4U), or Data Management (MDM4U);
- 2 from: Biology (SBI4U), Chemistry (SCH4U), Introduction to Kinesiology (PSK4U), or Physics (SPH4U).
For International Students:
- English, Math, and 2 from: Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate they can cope with the language demands of an English language university and will be required to present proof of English language proficiency. Lakehead University may consider the following as proof of English language proficiency:

To satisfy Lakehead University's English language proficiency requirements, applicants can complete one of the following recognized language tests with the required minimum scores:

Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) or CAEL CE (Computer Edition) or CAEL Online - Minimum Score: 60
Cambridge Academic English (C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency) - Minimum Score: 176 (no individual score less than 169)
Duolingo English Test - Minimum Score: 120 (no individual sub-score less than 115)
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Minimum Score: 6.5 (no individual score less than 6.0)
Michigan English Test (MET) - Minimum Score: 85
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Minimum Score: 58 (no component score less than 50)
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Minimum Score: 80 (no component score less than 19) for Internet Based Test (iBT)
