The Double Degree - Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology & Bachelor of Education - Primary/Junior program at Lakehead University is designed for students who aspire to combine their passion for kinesiology with a career in education. This concurrent education program allows students to earn two degrees simultaneously, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in both fields. The program emphasizes a comprehensive understanding of human movement, health, and education, preparing graduates for diverse career opportunities in teaching and kinesiology.

Program structure

The Double Degree program is structured to be completed in a six-year timeframe, with an option for an accelerated five-year completion for those who wish to fast-track their education. Key features of the program structure include:

  • Completion of required Kinesiology courses totaling 10.5 full course equivalents (FCEs).
  • Three required FCEs from Biology, English, and Chemistry departments.
  • One and one-half FCEs in Education courses prior to entry into the Professional Program.
  • Elective courses totaling 5.0 FCEs, allowing students to tailor their education based on career objectives.
  • A total of 20 FCEs plus Kinesiology 4193 are required for graduation.

Students must maintain a minimum cumulative average of 70% in Kinesiology courses and a 65% overall average to graduate. The program also includes options for co-op placements, providing valuable hands-on experience in the field.
