Program Overview

If you're a Hospitality and Culinary Arts graduate with a passion for health care and nutrition, our one-year Food and Nutrition Management graduate certificate program is what you're looking for. This program is designed to build on your culinary skills while providing you with the knowledge necessary to manage food and nutrition in various health care settings. Through a combination of classroom instruction and practical work placements, you will learn how to provide nutritious food and care in hospitals, retirement homes, and long-term care facilities. The program is accredited by the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management, ensuring that you receive a recognized qualification that prepares you for a rewarding career in this field.

Program Structure

The Food and Nutrition Management program is a one-year (2 semesters) full-time course that runs from September to May. The program is structured to provide a comprehensive learning experience through various methods:

  • Classroom instruction focused on food modification, clinical nutrition, physiology, and nutrition analysis.
  • Work placements in health care settings, allowing students to gain hands-on experience.
  • Externship opportunities for practical application of skills learned in class.
  • Classes are scheduled Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., enabling students to pursue part-time work in related fields.

This program also includes additional work-integrated learning experiences for students who do not possess a culinary credential, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field.
