College Certificate - Pre-Health Sciences Pathway To Certificates And Diplomas (A109)

Academic Requirements

To apply for the Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Certificates and Diplomas (A109) program at George Brown College, applicants must meet the following Academic Requirements:

• Applicants must possess an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or an equivalent qualification.
• Completion of Grade 12 English (C or U).
• For mature students (19 years of age or older without an OSSD), they may take the Admissions Assessment for English or consider upgrading to achieve the necessary credits in English.

It is important to note that meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the program. Applicants may be required to achieve grades higher than the stated minimums.

Additionally, the program provides a direct pathway to several other programs at George Brown College, including:

• Practical Nursing (S121)
• Dental Assisting (S113)
• Recreation Management in Gerontology (C152)
• Office Administration – Medical (S135)

Each of these programs reserves a limited number of seats for graduates of the A109 program who meet specific conditions, such as a minimum grade point average or minimum grades in certain courses. Admission to these programs is highly competitive.

Language Requirements

To be considered for admission to the College Certificate - Pre-Health Sciences Pathway To Certificates And Diplomas (A109) program, applicants must provide proof of English proficiency if English is not the first language in their country. The following English language tests and their respective minimum scores are accepted:

• George Brown English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program: Level 8
• IELTS (Academic): 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in each skill band
• TOEFL: 80 (online), with a minimum of 20 in each skill band
• Duolingo English Test: 110 overall score, with a minimum of 90 in production score
• MELAB: 80
• PTE (Academic): 54 overall, with a minimum of 50 in each skill band
• CAEL: 60 overall
• Cambridge English Exams (B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency): 169 or more (with no individual skill below 162)

For applicants who do not meet the English language requirements, conditional admission may be offered through the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program, subject to successful completion of the required level.
