Program Overview

The Double Degree - Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology & Bachelor of Education - Intermediate/Senior program at Lakehead University is designed for students who aspire to excel in both kinesiology and education. This unique program allows students to gain comprehensive knowledge and skills in health, physical education, and teaching methodologies. Graduates will be well-prepared to enter the workforce with a strong foundation in both fields, making them versatile professionals in the education and health sectors.

Program Structure

The program is structured as a six-year course of study, which includes a combination of required courses in Kinesiology, Biology, English, Chemistry, and Education. The program is divided into several key components:

  • First Year: Introduction to Kinesiology, Chemistry, English, and Education.
  • Second Year: Advanced Kinesiology courses and foundational Biology courses.
  • Third Year: Further Kinesiology studies and Education electives.
  • Fourth Year: Specialized Kinesiology courses and electives.
  • Fifth and Sixth Years: Completion of the 2-Year Professional Program in Education.

Students are required to complete a total of 20 full course equivalents (FCEs), including specific Kinesiology and Education courses. Additionally, students must maintain a minimum cumulative average of B (70%) in Kinesiology courses and 65% overall to graduate. The program also emphasizes the importance of choosing two teachable subjects, with Health and Physical Education being the primary focus for Kinesiology students.
