Program Overview
The Nutrition and Food Service Management program at Centennial College is the longest established two-year program of its kind in the Greater Toronto Area. This health diploma program has received numerous awards for its approach to preparing students for challenging careers as managers in the dynamic and growing health care and food service industry. In this program, students learn to combine food service administration and health care to interpret and apply nutritional care principles to promote health and effectively manage a food service department. The program is accredited by the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM), which is essential for working as a food service manager in long-term care and acute care facilities.
Program Structure
The Nutrition and Food Service Management program is designed to be completed in 2 years, consisting of 4 semesters (16 months continuous). The program includes a variety of learning experiences, such as:
- Field placement organized by the college, providing practical experience in healthcare settings.
- Access to resources from the School of Community and Health Studies and the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts.
- Hands-on learning in culinary skills labs and food service operations.
This program is available for both domestic and international students, with multiple intakes throughout the year, including September and January. Students will also benefit from technology requirements that ensure they are equipped with the necessary tools for success in their studies.
