Academic Requirements

Applicants for the Master of Education (MEd) program at Lakehead University must meet the following Academic Requirements:

Graduates of a recognized university, college, or institute.
Evidence of scholarly achievement.
A four-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent with at least second class standing (B) based on the last 20 half courses or equivalent.
For applicants from countries with a British-patterned grading system, a minimum grade of B, or Second Class, Upper Division, is required.
National Diploma and Higher National Diploma are not recognized for admission to a graduate-level program.
Include a copy of your institution's grading scale when uploading transcripts.
Applicants holding a degree outside the discipline area may be considered based on courses taken and academic standing.
Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission; the academic unit must recommend admission.

Program Specific Requirements:

An acceptable three-year or four-year Bachelor's degree and Bachelor of Education or equivalent, each with at least a second class standing (B).
Alternatively, two years of professional experience and a minimum "B" average in a four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Academic references are optional for the MEd program.
Applicants with an average between 70% and 75% may be initially admitted to the course route, with the possibility to request a transfer to the portfolio or thesis route.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Successful completion of Senior Level English courses
