Academic Requirements

For the Master of Education - Educational Studies (Research Project) program, the following Academic Requirements apply:

• Minimum GPA: Not explicitly mentioned, but students are encouraged to maintain a strong academic record.
• Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.
• International students must provide documentation that meets the specific requirements of their educational background.

Language Requirements

At Trent University, it is essential for students to demonstrate proficiency in both spoken and written English. This proficiency is crucial for meeting the demands of classroom instruction, completing written assignments, and actively participating in tutorials and discussions.

Applicants whose first language is not English are typically required to submit proof of English proficiency through one of the following accepted tests:

• TOEFL / TOEFL IBT / TOEFL IBT Special Home Edition: 86 IBT with a minimum writing score of 20.
• IELTS: 6.5, with no band below 6.0.
• The Duolingo English Test: 115 (Note: Duolingo is NOT accepted by the School of Graduate Studies at Trent).
• CAEL | CAEL On-line (starting July 2020): 60.
• Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency (Certificate of Advanced English): 176, with no sub-score below 169.
• Pearson PTE Academic In-person & Online: 59.
• Trent Academic ESL Program: Academic English II with 75% in all courses.
