Academic Requirements

To apply for the Master of Education (MEd) program at Lakehead University, applicants must meet the following Academic Requirements:

Graduates of a recognized university, college, or institute.
Evidence of scholarly achievement.
A four-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent with at least second class standing (B) based on the last 20 half courses or equivalent.
For applicants from countries with a British-patterned grading system, a minimum grade of B, or Second Class, Upper Division, is required.
Applicants holding a degree outside the discipline area must be evaluated based on courses taken and academic standing.
Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

In addition to the general Academic Requirements, the following program-specific requirements apply:

An acceptable three-year or four-year Bachelor's degree and Bachelor of Education or equivalent, each with at least a second class standing (B).
Alternatively, two years of professional experience and a minimum "B" average in a four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Academic references are optional for the MEd program.
Applicants with an average between 70% and 75% will be initially admitted to the course route, with the possibility to request a transfer to the portfolio or thesis route.

It is important to note that meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission, as the academic unit must recommend admission. Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible and to contact LOA Portal's advisors for any clarification and support.
