The Double Degree - Honours Bachelor of Arts - French and Bachelor of Education - Primary/Junior program at Lakehead University is designed for students who wish to combine their passion for the French language with a career in education. This unique program allows students to earn two degrees simultaneously, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to teach at the primary and junior levels. The program emphasizes a strong foundation in French language and culture, alongside essential educational theories and practices. Students will engage in a variety of learning experiences that prepare them for a rewarding career in teaching.

Program structure

The Double Degree program spans a total of six years, which includes both the Honours Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Education components. The structure of the program is as follows:

  • First Year: Introduction to French language and culture, along with foundational courses in education.
  • Second Year: Advanced French language studies and further education courses.
  • Third Year: Continued focus on French Honours courses and educational theory.
  • Fourth Year: In-depth study of French literature and additional education courses.
  • Fifth and Sixth Years: Completion of the 2-Year Professional Program in Education, focusing on practical teaching skills.
