The Double Degree - Honours Bachelor of Arts - French and History & Bachelor of Education - Intermediate/Senior program at Lakehead University is designed for students who wish to combine their passion for the humanities with a career in education. This unique program allows students to earn two degrees simultaneously, equipping them with a comprehensive understanding of both French and History, alongside essential teaching skills. The program emphasizes a strong academic foundation, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for the challenges of teaching at the Intermediate and Senior levels.

Program Structure

The Double Degree program spans a total of six years, divided into two main components: the Honours Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Education. The structure is as follows:

  • First Year: Introduction to French and History, along with foundational education courses.
  • Second Year: Advanced studies in French and History, alongside further education courses.
  • Third Year: Continued focus on French and History, with elective options in education.

Students are required to maintain an overall average of 70% in their French and History courses to continue in the program. Additionally, students must select French as their first teachable subject and History as their second.
