Program Overview

Do you love the delicious creativity and chemistry involved in baking and pastry? Humber’s Baking and Pastry Arts Management program is an international innovator in pastry education. Our 2-year Baking and Pastry Arts Management diploma program will give you the skills and training needed to master classic pastries, artisan and specialty breads, chocolate confections and showpieces, complex celebration cakes, sugar artwork, stunning plated desserts, and more!

 

Throughout the program, you will become proficient in all aspects of baking and pastry arts management, as well as develop entrepreneurial and business skills. You will learn to develop dessert menus and marketing materials, as well as obtain a nationally recognized food safety and sanitation certification. You will receive a complete chef’s uniform for all practical lab classes, as well as a complete pastry kit with high-quality tools.

Program Structure

The Baking and Pastry Arts Management program is structured over 4 semesters. This program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the necessary skills for a successful career in the baking and pastry industry. Key features of the program structure include:

  • Field experience with top industry partners, providing real-world application of skills.
  • Optional co-operative education, allowing students to gain paid work experience in their field.
  • Opportunities for study abroad, enhancing global perspectives in baking and pastry arts.

 

Students will also engage in writing proficiency and general arts and science classes, which are essential for developing communication and critical thinking skills necessary for long-term career development. Additionally, there is a scheduled one-semester break between the second and third semesters for students starting in September or January.
