The Real Property Administration (Assessment & Appraisal) program is a two-year diploma designed to equip students with the skills necessary to excel in the property valuation and property tax sectors. This program emphasizes a comprehensive understanding of property appraisal and assessment, covering essential topics such as the property assessment system, assessment appeals, and property tax administration. Students will engage with cutting-edge industry technology and techniques, ensuring they are well-prepared for the demands of the field. The program also fosters essential skills such as time management, communication, and teamwork, which are crucial for success in this industry. Importantly, this program does not prepare students to become real estate agents or property managers.

Program structure

The Real Property Administration (Assessment & Appraisal) program is structured to be completed in 4 semesters (2 years). The program is offered in a flexible delivery format, allowing students to choose between in-person classes or online learning. Key features of the program structure include:

  • Two field placements that provide practical experience in real property valuation and taxation.
  • Hands-on learning through university-level courses.
  • Opportunities for accelerated completion for those with prior qualifications.
  • Integration of industry-standard techniques and technology into the curriculum.

Students must complete the full curriculum in the first two semesters to qualify for Field Placement I, and all three semesters to qualify for Field Placement II. This structure ensures that students are well-prepared for their future careers upon graduation.
