Program Overview
Humber’s Mechanical Techniques – Millwright certificate program is designed to introduce prospective millwrights to the trade. The program aims to facilitate employment and provide the necessary components to enter into a millwright apprenticeship program. Students will gain experience with Ontario's Trade Standards and Regulations and Practices, along with a solid understanding of various technical theories and elements of the millwright trade. The program includes a significant practical component, where students will learn valuable skills in areas such as blueprint reading, basic hydraulic/pneumatic systems, machining, welding, basic electrical controls, drives/pumps, and precision measurement. Skilled faculty at Humber highlight current industry trends and strive to replicate real-world situations that apprentices and skilled tradespeople encounter in their daily work life. Upon completion, students may be eligible for exemption from the level one in-school portion of a Millwright Apprenticeship program.
