Program overview

The Mechanical Techniques - Gas and Sheet Metal program is designed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills for the Gas Technician (G3) license while also providing in-school training for the Residential Sheet Metal Apprenticeship (308R). This unique combination prepares graduates for various roles in the construction trades, including gas equipment installation and service work. Upon completion, students may qualify to write the G3 (Gas Technician) TSSA exam and could be exempt from certain in-school training requirements for the Low Rise Residential Sheet Metal apprenticeship. This program positions graduates well for careers in the HVAC industry and other mechanical construction trades.

Program structure

The Mechanical Techniques - Gas and Sheet Metal program spans a duration of 1 year, divided into two academic terms. The program is delivered in person at the Cambridge – Reuter Dr. campus. Students will engage in a comprehensive curriculum that prepares them for both the Gas Technician (G3) license and the Residential Sheet Metal Apprenticeship. This program offers a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the workforce. Additionally, students may have opportunities for hands-on experiences through co-op placements or internships, enhancing their learning and employability.
