Program Overview

The Blasting Techniques program at Fleming College is a unique Ontario College Certificate that spans two semesters. It is the only program of its kind in Canada, designed for those interested in the explosives industry. This hands-on program prepares students for a career in a rapidly growing field, focusing on practical skills and real-world applications. Students will gain essential knowledge and experience in blasting techniques, safety protocols, and environmental considerations, making them well-equipped for various roles in the industry.

Program Structure

The Blasting Techniques program is structured over a duration of two semesters. Here are some key features of the program:

  • Program Length: 2 semesters
  • Delivery Method: In-person classes at the Frost Campus
  • Hands-on Training: Students will engage in practical training at a state-of-the-art drilling and blasting training center.
  • Field Classes: Significant time is spent in labs and field assignments to refine skills.
  • Optional Pathway: Students who start in May can enter the second semester of the Resources Drilling Technician program in January, completing both programs in a total of 5 semesters (20 months).

Students will also be required to submit a Criminal Reference Check to attend the program.
