Academic Requirements

To be eligible for the College Certificate - Carpentry And Renovation Techniques (CR111) program, applicants must meet the following academic requirements:

Possess the equivalent of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
Complete the required courses as noted on specific program web pages.

For international students, particularly those from Vietnam and other Asian countries, the following academic equivalencies apply:

Upper Secondary School Certificate with a minimum grade of 6 in program required subjects.

Additionally, transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

If English isn’t your first language or if you studied in another language, you must show proof of English proficiency through an approved evaluation. The following English proficiency tests are accepted for the College Certificate - Carpentry And Renovation Techniques (CR111) program:

CAEL Online or In-Person: Overall band score of 60
Cambridge English Tests: Minimum B2 First / C1 Advanced / C2 Proficiency 169 (with no single subscore below 162)
Duolingo Language Test: 105 and above
Humber English for Academic Purposes Pathway Program (EAP): Successful completion of the EAP certificate program with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 60% in Semester 2
IELTS Academic Level: Overall 6.0 AND No band below 5.5
LanguageCert Academic LCA: Overall 65-69 with no skill under 60
MET: 56
PTE Academic: 53 - 57
TOEFL Academic Level: 550 for paper-based test OR 80 (20L, 20W, 20S, 20R) for internet-based test
Integrated Skills in English (ISE): Overall score of 90 and a minimum score of 80 in each skill
