The Motive Power Technician - Heavy Duty Equipment Diploma is a comprehensive two-year program designed to equip students with essential skills and hands-on training for a successful career in the heavy-duty equipment repair industry. This program emphasizes practical learning, allowing students to gain valuable experience in various aspects of the trade, including failure analysis and electrical diagnostics. Program structure

The Motive Power Technician - Heavy Duty Equipment program spans a duration of 2 years and is delivered in person at the Cambridge – Reuter Dr. campus. The program structure includes:

  • Hands-on training with a focus on practical skills development.
  • Level 1 and 2 apprenticeship training equivalencies.
  • Emphasis on related topics such as failure analysis and electrical diagnostics.
  • Introduction to alternative career options within the heavy-duty equipment industry.
  • Optional co-op program to gain real-world experience.

Students will also have the opportunity to receive exemptions from Levels 1 and 2 of the Heavy Duty Equipment Technician apprenticeship in-school training upon graduation.
