Program Overview

The Carpentry and Renovation Technician Diploma program at Conestoga is designed for those who enjoy working with tools and want to see the tangible results of their efforts. This 2-year program prepares students for careers in the residential and light commercial construction sectors. With a growing demand for skilled tradespeople, this program equips students with essential skills and knowledge to thrive in the construction industry. Graduates will be well-prepared to contribute to building and renovating homes, schools, and businesses, addressing the critical need for new housing and renovations in Ontario.

Program Structure

The Carpentry and Renovation Technician program spans a 2-year period, providing a comprehensive education in carpentry and renovation techniques. The program structure includes:

  • Hands-on learning experiences in both interior and exterior construction during the first year.
  • Focus on renovation of existing structures, project planning, and construction of outdoor structures in the second year.
  • Optional co-op stream for students wishing to gain practical workplace experience.
  • Common first-year curriculum with Conestoga's Construction Techniques – Carpentry program.

This program is delivered in person at the Waterloo campus, allowing students to engage directly with instructors and peers in a collaborative learning environment.
