Academic Requirements

To apply for the College Diploma in Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician program at Conestoga College, applicants must meet the following academic requirements:

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or 19 years of age or older with mature student status.
Grade 12 compulsory English, C or U, or equivalent, OR Conestoga College Preparatory Communications (COMM1251), or equivalent.
Grade 12 Mathematics, C or U, or equivalent, OR Conestoga College Preparatory Mathematics for Trades and Apprenticeship (MATH1420).

For international students, the following requirements apply:

Canadian citizens and permanent residents with transcripts from outside Canada require a course-by-course credential evaluation. You can request this at a reduced fee through the college by completing the Assessment of International Credentials for Admissions and Credit Transfer online form, or through an approved provider such as ICAS or WES.
Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

It is important to note that:

Applicants with transcripts from institutions where the language of instruction is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency.
Manual dexterity and the ability to work at heights and in various climatic conditions are frequent prerequisites for employment in this field. The physical demands of this program reflect industry requirements (e.g. lifting, carrying, climbing, etc.) and require students to be physically fit in order to participate adequately.
Students are expected to demonstrate the same attention to attendance, punctuality, and conduct as required by the business or industry they expect to be employed.
Students are required to provide their own specified hand tools, CSA-approved (Omega symbol required) footwear, hard hats, and clear safety glasses. The list of required tools will be provided to students during orientation.
