Program Overview

The Sport and Event Marketing graduate certificate program at George Brown College equips students with essential knowledge and skills sought by employers in the fields of sports, arts, entertainment, and not-for-profit marketing. This program emphasizes practical application, allowing students to engage with industry best practices, strategies, and tools. With over 25 years of experience, the program fosters creativity and critical thinking, preparing students for successful careers in a dynamic and integrated marketing landscape.

Program Structure

The Sport and Event Marketing program is designed to be completed in 12 months, consisting of:

  • 2 semesters of in-class learning
  • 1 semester of work experience (co-op or internship)

Students can start the program in January, May, or September. The program includes a mandatory work experience component, which can be either a paid co-op or an unpaid internship, providing valuable hands-on experience that employers highly value. This work term occurs after the second academic semester, allowing students to apply their classroom knowledge in real-world settings.

Additionally, students have access to extracurricular opportunities such as speed mentoring and participation in events like the 5 to Watch: Canada’s Sports Business Awards. The program is part of the Centre for Business within the School of Marketing, ensuring a comprehensive educational experience.
