Program Overview

The Health, Wellness and Fitness program at Mohawk College is designed to transform minds and bodies through a comprehensive approach to health and wellness. This dynamic Ontario College Diploma program focuses on mastering the art of behavior change, equipping students with the skills to support individuals on their lifelong health journeys. Students will learn to implement exercise programs, nutritional plans, and wellness strategies tailored to clients of varying fitness levels. With a strong emphasis on experiential learning, this program prepares graduates to make a meaningful impact in the health and wellness sector.

Program Structure

The Health, Wellness and Fitness program spans two academic years, consisting of periods of 8 months each. Students have the option to enroll in a Fast Track program, allowing them to complete the diploma in just 16 months by attending four continuous semesters, including Winter, Spring/Summer, Fall, and Winter. The program includes:

  • Field placements in diverse settings such as recreational therapy centers, physiotherapy clinics, and corporate gyms.
  • Experiential learning opportunities through events in collaboration with industry partners.
  • Access to unique experiences, including a cadaver lab tour at McMaster University.
  • Opportunities to challenge industry certifications.
  • Involvement in special events and volunteer opportunities.

This structure ensures that students gain practical experience and knowledge, preparing them for a successful career in health and wellness.
