Humber’s General Arts and Science – English for Academic Purposes (EAP) certificate program is an intensive, full-time academic pathway designed for English language learners. The curriculum aims to enhance language competence and fluency in writing, communication, and critical thinking skills, preparing students for entry into various college diploma, degree, and graduate certificate programs. The program emphasizes communicative academic English, integrating receptive skills like listening and reading with productive skills such as speaking and writing. Program Structure

The General Arts and Science - English for Academic Purposes program is structured as follows:

Academic Requirements

To apply for the General Arts And Science - English For Academic Purposes (09371) program at Humber Polytechnic, the following academic requirements must be met:

International students must possess the equivalent of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

For students from Vietnam and other Asian countries, the following equivalencies apply:

Upper Secondary School Certificate with a minimum grade of 6 in program required subjects.

Cambridge English Tests: B2 First / C1 Advanced / C2 Proficiency 169 (with no single subscore below 162)
Duolingo Language Test: 105 and above
Humber English for Academic Purposes Pathway Program (EAP): Successful completion of the EAP certificate program with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 60% in Semester 2
IELTS Academic Level: Overall 6.0 AND No band below 5.5
LanguageCert Academic LCA: Overall 65-69 with no skill under 60
MET: 56
PTE Academic: 53 - 57
TOEFL Academic Level: 550 for paper-based test OR 80 (20L, 20W, 20S, 20R) for internet-based test
Integrated Skills in English (ISE): Overall score of 90 and a minimum score of 80 in each skill
