Program overview

The Technical Product Management program is designed for individuals who aspire to become proficient Technical Product Managers (TPMs). This program focuses on equipping students with the necessary skills to thrive in the tech sector, particularly in the vibrant environment of Waterloo, known as "Silicon Valley North." Students will learn to navigate the complexities of software and hardware products, enhancing their abilities in communication, leadership, and creativity. The curriculum emphasizes real-world problem-solving and innovation, preparing graduates to make significant contributions to their organizations. With a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience, this program aims to develop well-rounded professionals ready to tackle the challenges of the tech industry.

Program structure

The Technical Product Management program is structured to provide a comprehensive educational experience over a period of one year, which includes:

  • Two academic terms of intensive study.
  • An optional one-term co-op work term for students who meet the requirements.
  • Start dates available in September, January, and May.

This full-time program is delivered through a combination of lectures, hands-on projects, and collaborative work, ensuring that students gain practical skills alongside theoretical knowledge. The curriculum covers essential topics such as digital domains, leadership, collaboration, decision-making, financial management, vendor relations, strategy, agile analysis, design, and product management techniques. By the end of the program, students will have completed a major capstone project, showcasing their skills to potential employers.
