If you're a high school graduate interested in helping people and businesses manage risk, Conestoga's two-year Business - Insurance diploma is your pathway to a meaningful career in the financial services sector. This hands-on program provides a comprehensive understanding of insurance practices, from claims and underwriting to sales and management. You'll explore real-world scenarios in medical, property, and business coverage while gaining practical experience through an optional paid co-op placement.

Program structure

The Business - Insurance diploma program is designed to be completed in two years. The program offers a hybrid delivery method, combining both in-person and online learning experiences. Students will engage in a variety of learning activities that cover essential topics in the insurance field, including:

  • Claims handling and investigation
  • Underwriting and insurance marketing
  • Broker/agent sales and management
  • Risk assessment and financial protection strategies
  • Industry standards and professional ethics

Additionally, students have the option to participate in an optional paid co-op placement, which provides valuable real-world experience. This co-op stream is available only to students who start the program in September. Graduates can also pathway into further education, such as Year 3 of the International Business Management degree or Year 2 of the Accounting, Audit, and Information Technology degree.
