Program Overview
The Woodworking Technician Diploma is a comprehensive 2-year program designed to equip students with essential skills and techniques for the manufacture of furniture, cabinets, and architectural millwork. Students will have the opportunity to learn at one of the most advanced woodworking training facilities in North America, gaining a solid foundation in both traditional and modern manufacturing techniques.
Program Structure
The Woodworking Technician program spans a duration of 2 years and is structured to provide a thorough understanding of woodworking processes. The program is divided into two main years:
- First Year: Students will focus on the setup and operation of woodworking machinery, laminating, veneering, machining, sanding, assembly, and finishing. This year is common with the Woodworking Technology program.
- Second Year: The second year emphasizes extensive project work, production management skills, and the manufacturing of kitchen cabinets and architectural millwork. This year is also common with the Woodworking Technology program.
Additionally, the program includes Levels 1, 2, and 3 of the trade schooling for an Ontario cabinetmaker apprenticeship, providing students with a recognized advantage when entering the workforce. Students may also be exempt from apprenticeship in-school training if they choose to pursue a Cabinetmaker Apprenticeship.
