The Financial Technology (FNT) program at Seneca is an innovative eight-month graduate certificate designed to equip students with the skills needed in the rapidly evolving financial services sector. This program focuses on the integration of disruptive technologies and best practices in product development and entrepreneurship. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of essential topics such as cybersecurity, web application and mobile development, and data analytics tailored for financial services. The program is delivered through a flexible format, allowing for both in-person and online learning experiences, ensuring that students can adapt their education to fit their schedules.

Program structure

The Financial Technology program is structured to be completed in 2 semesters (8 months). The program offers a flexible delivery format, which includes:

In-person classes with web conferencing options for remote students.
Evening classes to accommodate various schedules.
A week-long intensive session at the beginning of the program, at the start of the second term, and at the end of the program.

Additionally, there is a part-time option available for students who may need a more flexible schedule. This structure is designed to provide students with a comprehensive learning experience while allowing them to balance other commitments.

Academic Requirements

To apply for the Financial Technology (FNT) Graduate Certificate program, applicants must meet the following Academic Requirements:

Ontario university/college degree, college diploma, or equivalent.
Applicants with an equivalent combination of academic and recent related work experience may be considered for admission through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA). A relevant resumé and references must be provided.

For international students, additional requirements include:

Canadian citizens or permanent residents educated outside of Canada must provide a WES or an ICAS credential evaluation.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

All applicants to Seneca must be well prepared to study in English. If you are coming from a country where English is not the primary language, you must show one of the following:

Successful completion of a minimum of two years of full-time study in a school and country where English is the primary language
Successful completion of a minimum of one year of full-time study at the postsecondary level in an institution and country where English is the primary language
Successful completion of an intensive English program
English proficiency test scores from one of the international English language testing bodies listed below. Only tests taken in the last two years are considered valid

Please note that the requirements below are the minimum cut-offs and meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Highly competitive program seats will be offered to the most highly qualified applicants based on ranking from highest to lowest.
