Seneca's Animation program offers an innovative approach to learning both traditional and digital animation techniques. This three-year advanced diploma program immerses students in a creative environment where they will develop essential skills such as drawing storyboards, designing scenes, and animating characters. The curriculum emphasizes the application of theories related to motion, timing, storytelling, and digital technology, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for the dynamic animation industry. Program structure

The Animation program at Seneca is structured to provide a comprehensive education over a period of 6 semesters (3 years). The program is delivered in a hybrid format, combining online coursework with in-person learning experiences. Key features of the program structure include:

  • Foundational skills development in the first year, covering animation, design, film language, life drawing, and structural drawing.
  • Specialization options in the second and third years, allowing students to focus on one of four streams: 2D animation, 3D animation, game art and animation, or visual development.
  • A collaborative third-year capstone project that integrates students from various streams for a cross-disciplinary experience.
  • Hands-on training in the state-of-the-art Animation Specialization Lab.
