Program Overview

In the Animation advanced diploma program, you’ll enhance your general animation training by specializing in either 2D or 3D animation with third-year stream options. This program is recognized as a Toon Boom Centre of Excellence, ensuring that you will be well-prepared with a job-ready portfolio upon graduation. You will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue careers in various fields such as television, games, film, and advertising. The program emphasizes the development of drawing and storytelling skills through the 12 principles of animation, providing you with a comprehensive understanding of the animation process.

Program Structure

The Animation program is structured over a duration of 6 semesters (3 years), allowing students to immerse themselves fully in the world of animation. The program includes:

  • Specialization options in 2D or 3D animation during the third year.
  • Access to industry-standard software and hardware throughout the program.
  • A capstone project in the final semester to showcase your skills.
  • Training at Cambrian’s state-of-the-art animation studio.
  • Opportunities to showcase work to industry representatives through field trips.

Students will develop dynamic storytelling, drawing, design, and animation skills, culminating in a production-ready portfolio that will aid in launching their careers in the animation industry.
