Program overview

Interested in working in media arts? OCAD University’s Integrated Media program might be for you. In this program, you will learn technical and creative skills applicable to a variety of media and digital artworks. Taught by artists actively working in the field, the curriculum covers film, video, electronics, interactivity, creative coding, performance, installation, animation, and sound. While many students focus on video production, the interdisciplinary nature of the program allows you to explore your own creative path across various forms of media.

Program structure

The Integrated Media program at OCAD University is designed to be completed in four years. The program structure is as follows:

  • First Year: Students begin with a foundational year in art, taking a mix of mandatory and elective courses to build a strong base.
  • Second Year: Core Integrated Media courses become the focus, alongside elective options that may include animation, new media art, and hybrid media.
  • Third Year: Students choose art electives while engaging in required research and studio courses in Integrated Media.
  • Fourth Year: The final year allows for deeper exploration of personal interests, culminating in a thesis or final project showcased at OCAD U’s GradEx exhibition.

Additionally, students have the opportunity to choose a minor from over 90 electives, enhancing their skills and knowledge in a secondary field.
