College Diploma - Registered Massage Therapy (Continuing Studies)

Academic Requirements

International Applicants: To be eligible for the Registered Massage Therapy program, international applicants must meet the following requirements:

• BC Grade 12 Graduation (or equivalent); or successful completion of one full academic year or a minimum of 24 university credits at a recognized post-secondary institution.

Additionally, the following Additional Requirements must be fulfilled:

1. Completion of a 2-day Introduction to Massage course or equivalent: The preferred course is Langara's course. Other BC RMT schools with similar hours (at least 12 hours long) are also accepted. Documentation of successful completion is required.
2. RMT Program Admission Questions: Students must complete the RMT Program admission questions in a professional paragraph format (no bullets), using a maximum of 10 pages.
3. Professional Reference Letter: A reference letter from someone who has known the applicant for 5 years, is not a family member, and has a university/college degree is required. The letter must outline the context of the relationship and attest to personal characteristics of perseverance and ability to deal with stress.
4. Additional requirements requested after acceptance include a Criminal Record Check and Standard First-Aid with CPR Level C & AED.

Preference may be given to applicants who have successfully completed post-secondary anatomy or physiology coursework or have a bachelor's or higher degree from a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution. Official transcripts from all post-secondary education institutions must be submitted.

It is important to note that acceptance to the CS Diploma in Registered Massage Therapy is not guaranteed. RMT Program application packages are processed and assessed as they are submitted. Late submissions will be assessed for the next intake.

Language Requirements

English is the language of instruction at Langara College. All applicants are required to be proficient in listening, reading, speaking, and writing in English at a post-secondary level.

Most programs fall into one of the three categories below. Refer to the 'Admissions' tab of the program listing for the full requirements or see our complete list of programs by category.

Must meet one of the English Language Requirements below:

• English First Peoples 12 - 70%
• English Studies 12 - 70%
• Literary Studies 12 - 70%
• Langara English Test (LET) - 3
• Langara English Course - A minimum "S" grade in ENGL 1107 or 1110; or a minimum "C" grade in ENGL 1120
• English (Post-Secondary Transfer) - C-
• International Baccalaureate - IB ENGL A (HL or SL): 3; IB ENGL LIT & PERFORM (SL): 3
• Advanced Placement - AP ENGL LIT & COMP: 2; AP ENGL LANG & COMP: 2
• GCSE O-Level English, GCSE English Language B - C

Applicants unable to meet the English Language Requirements must satisfy one of the following English Proficiency requirements:

• English for Academic Purposes (EAP) - Level IV (EAP Level IV (LEAP 8))
• Language Proficiency Index (LPI) - 26
• IELTS Academic - 6.5 (No Band Lower Than 6.0)
• Duolingo English Test - 110
• TOEFL (IBT) - Overall: 88; Writing: 20; Reading: 20; Listening: 20; Speaking: 20
• CAEL - Overall: 70 (No Band Lower Than 60)
• Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic) - 56 (No Individual Skill Score Less Than 55)
