Humber’s Theatre Arts - Technical Production diploma program equips students with essential skills and knowledge to embark on a career in the performing arts industry. The program emphasizes the creation of props, costumes, and set pieces, as well as the integration of light, sound, and projections into theatrical performances. Students will gain foundational knowledge in stage management and collaborative teamwork, preparing them for various roles in the entertainment sector. The program fosters a creative and collaborative environment, focusing on broad-based training in technical production while promoting a commitment to lifelong learning. With faculty members who possess substantial industry experience, students will have opportunities to engage with other creative programs at Humber and collaborate with external partners, enhancing their networking prospects and career readiness.

 

Program Structure

The Theatre Arts - Technical Production program spans 4 semesters, providing a comprehensive education in technical production for the performing arts. The program structure includes:

  • Hands-on learning experiences through various projects and productions.
  • Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities, including field experiences and professional practicums.
  • Optional co-operative education, allowing students to gain paid work experience in their field.

Students will participate in a Professional Practice course, which prepares them for securing field experiences. In Semester 3, they will engage in a Field Experience course, committing 120 hours to practical application in the industry. This program is designed to bridge academic learning with real-world application, ensuring students are well-prepared for their future careers.
