Program Overview

This is one of the few Pre-Health Pathway programs in the Ontario College sector where students have the opportunity to gain science lab experience. If you are interested in pursuing a career in the health-care sector and you would like the opportunity to explore your options while developing the skills that are necessary for post-secondary success, then this is the program for you. In the Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees program, you will strengthen your science, writing, and math skills while exploring and preparing you for career paths in biotechnology, pharmacy technician, registered or practical nursing, Chinese medicine, and paramedicine, to name a few.

The Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in health sciences over a period of 2 semesters. The program includes:

Online option available for flexible learning.
Experiential learning through science labs, where students will participate in lab teams and conduct experiments starting in their first semester.

Academic Requirements

To apply for the College Certificate - Pre-Health Sciences - Pathway To Advanced Diplomas And Degrees (PH111) program, students must meet the following Academic Requirements:

Possess the equivalent of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
Complete the required courses as specified on the program's webpage.
For international students, the following academic equivalencies are required:
- Upper Secondary School Certificate with a minimum grade of 7 in program required subjects.
- Transcripts for any post-secondary courses or programs completed.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

To ensure that all students are adequately prepared for the academic challenges at Humber, it is essential to demonstrate proficiency in English. If English is not a student's first language, or if their previous education was conducted in another language, they must provide proof of English proficiency through one of the following methods:

Completion of a minimum of two years of full-time study at the secondary school level in an English language school system in a country where English is the primary language.
Completion of a minimum of two full years of successful study in an accredited university degree program or college diploma program in a country where English is the primary language of instruction.
Submission of English proficiency test scores from one of the following accepted tests, taken within the last 24 months:
CAEL Online or In-Person: Overall band score of 60
Cambridge English Tests: Minimum B2 First / C1 Advanced / C2 Proficiency 169 (with no single subscore below 162)
Duolingo Language Test: 105 and above
Humber English for Academic Purposes Pathway Program (EAP): Successful completion of all EAP courses with a minimum GPA of 60% in Level 8
IELTS Academic Level: Overall 6.0 AND No band below 5.5
LanguageCert Academic LCA: Overall 65-69 with no skill under 60
MET: 56
PTE Academic: 53 - 57
TOEFL Academic Level: 550 for paper-based test OR 80 for internet-based test
