The Esthetician – Spa Management program is designed to equip students with the essential practical skills, business training, and professional competencies needed to thrive in the expanding field of esthetics. This program is taught by a diverse faculty with extensive industry experience and offers an internationally recognized curriculum. Students will learn a holistic approach to various spa modalities, including specialized skin, body, and hand/foot treatments, as well as corrective makeup techniques. With over 240 hours of hands-on experience in Georgian’s Spa clinic, graduates will develop the professional ethics and skills necessary to run a small business in the esthetics industry, preparing them for a rewarding career.

Program structure

The Esthetician – Spa Management program is structured to provide a comprehensive education over a period of 4 semesters, which spans 2 years. The program includes:

3 Clinical Placements to gain practical experience.
Hands-on training in a real spa environment.
Courses that cover both practical skills and business management.

Academic Requirements

The admission requirements for the College Diploma - Esthetician (ESTH) program are as follows:

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, mature student status.
Grade 12 English (C or U).
Mature students, non-secondary school applicants (19 years or older), and home school applicants may also be considered for admission. Eligibility may be met by applicants who have taken equivalent courses, upgrading, completed their GED, and equivalency testing.
Applicants who have taken courses from a recognized and accredited post-secondary institution and/or have relevant life/learning experience may also be considered for admission.

It is required that students have Standard First Aid prior to participating in the Spa Clinic. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the permit status is valid for the duration of their time in the program.

During lab and clinics, students are not permitted to wear jewelry and must adhere to the professional decorum policy as described in the student handbook. Students are required to purchase uniforms, a student kit containing implements to be used during the course of the program, and a make-up kit.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

The language of instruction at Georgian College is English. All applicants for whom English is not their first language must provide proof of language proficiency. For the College Diploma - Esthetician (ESTH) program, the following English language tests are accepted:

Duolingo Language Test: 110
TOEFL internet-based test (IBT): 79
TOEFL paper-based test: 550
IELTS Academic only: 6.0
YELT: 1-5
TOEIC (Public Test): 800
Graduate of Level 8 of Georgian’s GAAS – English for Academic Purposes: 60% in certificate or completion of level 8 with 70% or higher
Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL)/CAEL Online: 60
Pearson Test of Academic English (PTE): 58
Cambridge English: C1 Advanced (CAE): 170
