Program Overview

The Chemical and Environmental Technology (Analytical Science Option) is a rewarding two-year diploma program designed for students interested in the latest chemical analysis techniques, environmental science, process engineering, and materials technology. Academic Requirements

To apply for the Chemical and Environmental Technology (Analytical Science Option) diploma program, applicants must meet the following entrance requirements:

English Language Proficiency: Category 2 – English Studies 12 (67%) or equivalent.
Mathematics: One of the following:
- Pre-Calculus 12 (73%) or
- Other acceptable BC and Yukon courses.
Chemistry: Chemistry 11 (73%).

For international students, this program is available, and a valid BCIT study permit is required prior to starting the program. Students must also complete a mandatory work component to qualify for graduation, which requires a co-op work permit before starting the work component.

It is important to note that transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

COMM 1009 – Technical Writing: Definitions, Instructions and Process Descriptions - 67%
COMM 1106 – Introduction to Business and Technical Communication (With Language Development Component) - 67%
BCIT Professional English Language Development (PELD):
- COMM 0030 – Speaking and Listening Skills for EAL Students 2 and COMM 0005 – Technical Communication Skills for EAL Students 4 - 70%
BCIT Technical Academic English (TAE) 5 - 60%
Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Test - 70 overall band score with no component below 60
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Overall score 6.5 with no band less than 5.5
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Overall score 60 with no skill score less than 60
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) - Overall score 86 with no section score less than 20
