Program Overview

Welcome to the Dual Degree program at Nipissing University, where you can earn a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology and Technology alongside a Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree. This unique program is designed for students who are passionate about environmental issues and education, preparing them to become well-rounded professionals. Graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to teach in various educational settings while also understanding the complexities of environmental biology and technology. The Schulich School of Education is recognized for its commitment to developing highly competent and professionally-minded educators.

Program Structure

The Dual Degree program combines two distinct yet complementary fields of study, allowing students to graduate with both a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology and Technology and a Bachelor of Education degree. The program is structured as follows:

  • Program Length: 6 years
  • Practicum: 19 weeks of practicum experience, complemented by 60 hours of Community Leadership Experience (CLE).
  • Students will have the opportunity to engage in teaching placements across various educational environments, including English Public school boards, English Separate school boards, and First Nations or federally administered schools.
  • Students can choose from different divisions for their teaching focus, including Primary/Junior (J/K to Grade 6), Primary/Junior with a focus on French as a Second Language, Junior/Intermediate (Grades 4 to 10), and Intermediate/Senior (Grades 7 to 12).
