The Veterinary Technician (VTE) program at Seneca is a comprehensive two-year diploma course designed to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills needed to assist veterinary practitioners, public health officers, and biomedical research scientists. Throughout the program, students will delve into various subjects such as nutrition, clinical pathology, microbiology, radiography, anatomy, physiology, and genetics. This diverse curriculum ensures a strong understanding of animal behavior, nursing, and care. The program is delivered by expert faculty who engage in applied research projects, fostering collaboration among students, graduates, and industry professionals.

Program structure

The Veterinary Technician program is structured to provide a robust educational experience over a duration of 4 semesters (2 years). The program is offered in a hybrid delivery format, combining both online and in-person learning. Key features of the program structure include:

  • Field Placement: Students have the opportunity to participate in a professional field placement in their fourth semester, provided all academic requirements are met.
  • Internal Clinical Placement: The first three semesters include internal clinical placement shifts at the Animal Health Centre, allowing students to build proficiency and confidence before their external field placement.
  • Flexible Learning: Some courses are available in a flexible delivery format, allowing students to choose between in-person and online learning.

This program is also eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), making it an attractive option for international students.
