Program overview

Academic Requirements

To apply for the Pharmacy Technician program at Confederation College, the following Academic Requirements must be met:

For Domestic Students:
1. Ontario Secondary School Diploma (or equivalent) with courses from the College (C), University (U), University/College (U/C), or Open (O) preparation levels with Grade 12 English (C/U) Level.
2. Successful completion of the Mature Student Assessment.
3. Successful completion of the General Education Development Test (GED).
4. Appropriate credits from the Academic and Career Entrance program (ACE).
Other Courses Required:
1. Grade 12 Math (College or University Preparation) or ACE Core Math (UM602).
2. Grade 11 or 12 Chemistry (College or University Preparation).
3. Grade 11 or 12 Biology (College or University Preparation).
For International Students:
1. A high school/senior secondary diploma with a grade 12 math, biology, and chemistry credits.
  - Original transcripts as well as a notarized, translated copy must be provided where applicable.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

All students must possess strong English writing, comprehension, and speaking skills to be successful in their studies, in any workplace components of their program, and in their careers.

Applicants are required to demonstrate proof of English proficiency through completing and submitting the recent (within two years of the start of the program) results of one of the following English proficiency tests:

IELTS Academic: Minimum overall score of 7.0 (no band lower than 7.0 for Listening, Reading, and Speaking; Writing - 6.5)
TOEFL iBT: Not accepted for this program
PTE-Academic: Not accepted for this program
The Duolingo English Test: Not accepted for this program
CAEL Online Test: Not accepted for this program

Confederation College reserves the right to test or retest students whose displayed English proficiency level creates academic or safety issues or does not match the test scores given during the admission process. If there is an apparent inconsistency between online and on-campus test results, students may be removed from their program and be required to complete additional English language training.
