The Veterinary Technician Ontario College Diploma program is a two-year course designed to prepare students for a career in the veterinary profession. This program offers an authentic learning experience, allowing students to work alongside highly credentialed professionals in both an on-campus veterinary medical facility and partnering facilities within the local community. Students benefit from hands-on training in a state-of-the-art 10,100 square-foot Veterinary Learning Centre and Clinic, which simulates a real-life small animal clinic. This immersive environment enables students to gain practical skills while providing medical care to shelter animals, thus making a meaningful impact in the veterinary health care team.

Program structure

The Veterinary Technician program is structured to provide a comprehensive education over a period of two years. The program includes:

  • Hands-on experience in a clinical setting
  • Off-campus rotations at partnering animal care facilities
  • A 240-hour final practicum

Students will engage in various practical experiences that are integral to their learning, ensuring they are well-prepared for the demands of the veterinary field. The program emphasizes the development of essential skills such as patient care, medication administration, and diagnostic procedures.
