Program Overview

The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Health Studies is designed to help students understand the complex factors that influence physical, mental, and social health and well-being. This program encourages critical thinking about health in relation to social justice, politics, and culture. Students will explore both the social and physical determinants of health, as well as approaches to health promotion, public health, epidemiology, and program evaluation. This comprehensive curriculum prepares graduates to engage thoughtfully with contemporary health issues.

Program Structure

The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Health Studies is structured to provide a well-rounded education over a period of four years. The program includes:

  • Innovative lecture-based learning complemented by hands-on experiences.
  • Fourth-year seminars that allow for in-depth study of current topics in Health Studies.
  • Community-based Programming and Evaluation courses that connect theory with real-life projects.
  • Research courses that progress from Research Methods to a Research Internship and culminate in a fourth-year Honours Thesis Project.

Students are encouraged to engage in inquiry-based learning, fostering a deeper understanding of health issues and their implications in society.
