Program overview
The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Health Studies is designed to help students understand the complex factors that influence physical, mental, and social health and well-being. This program encourages critical thinking about health in relation to social justice, politics, and culture. Students will explore both the social and physical determinants of health, as well as approaches to health promotion, public health, epidemiology, and program evaluation. This comprehensive curriculum prepares graduates to engage thoughtfully with contemporary health issues and contribute positively to society.
Program structure
The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Health Studies is structured to provide a well-rounded education over a four-year period. The program includes:
- Innovative and engaging lecture-based learning.
- Fourth-year seminars for in-depth study of current topics in Health Studies.
- Community-based Programming and Evaluation course, allowing students to work with community partners on real-life projects.
- Inquiry-based learning through a series of research courses, culminating in a fourth-year Honours Thesis Project.
