Program Overview

The Advanced Carpentry Technology diploma is an exciting opportunity for students to acquire the technical and career-ready skills essential for success in the carpentry field within the construction industry. This program serves as an alternative pathway into the carpentry trade, allowing students to gain valuable knowledge and hands-on experience without the need to be a registered apprentice initially. Graduates will be well-prepared to enter the workforce, having completed all necessary apprenticeship technical training.

Program Structure

The Advanced Carpentry Technology diploma is designed to be completed in 2 years of full-time study. The program structure includes:

  • Theory and hands-on training focused on the materials and processes required for constructing, renovating, and repairing residential and commercial buildings.
  • Exploration of new and emerging technologies, including High-Performance Energy Efficient building systems and trade-related software.
  • Classes held at NAIT’s Main Campus, combining classroom instruction with lab/shop components.
  • In-person delivery mode, ensuring students receive practical, hands-on experience.

Students will also have the option to participate in a co-op pathway, which includes a mandatory co-op work practicum, enhancing their real-world experience and employability.
