Program Overview

Prepare to teach the next generation of eager students with the Double Degree - Bachelor of Science & Bachelor of Education (Junior/Intermediate) program at Laurentian University. This unique concurrent program allows you to earn both a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Education degree in just five years. Students will be qualified to teach at the Junior/Intermediate level (Grades 4-10) and will have the opportunity to specialize in a specific teachable subject. With a strong emphasis on practical experience, the program includes multiple placements in K-12 schools throughout Ontario, ensuring that you are well-prepared for a rewarding career in education.

Program Structure

The Double Degree program is designed to be completed in five years. The structure includes:

  • Concurrent enrollment in both Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education programs.
  • Multiple placements in educational settings, including a 15-day placement in the third year, a four-week placement in the fourth year, and two five-week placements in the fifth year.
  • Support from an undergraduate advisor and director for academic and career counseling.
  • Opportunities to specialize in specific teachable subjects.

This program is one of the few concurrent education programs in Ontario that maintains a five-year length, allowing students to gain extensive practical experience while completing their degrees.
