Program Overview

Prepare to teach the next generation of eager students with the Double Degree - Bachelor of Arts & Bachelor of Education (Junior/Intermediate) program at Laurentian University. This unique concurrent program allows you to earn both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education, equipping you with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the field of education. You will be qualified to teach at the Junior/Intermediate level (Grades 4-10) and will have the opportunity to specialize in a specific teachable subject. With a strong emphasis on practical experience, this program ensures that you are well-prepared for a rewarding career in teaching.

Program Structure

The Double Degree program is designed to be completed in five years, allowing students to earn two degrees simultaneously. The program structure includes:

  • Concurrent completion of a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education.
  • Multiple placements throughout the program, including a 15-day placement in the third year, a four-week placement in the fourth year, and two five-week placements in the fifth (professional) year.
  • Support from an undergraduate advisor and director for academic and career counseling.
  • Focus on real-world experiences through practical placements in K-12 schools across Ontario.

This program is one of the few concurrent education programs in Ontario that maintains a five-year length, providing students with ample time to develop their teaching skills and knowledge.
