Academic Requirements

For the 2D Animation & Digital Art program, the following Academic Requirements apply:

General Application Requirements (Domestic and International):

A portfolio is required with the application for admission into the program. This portfolio must include an original, recent drawing of:
- A perspective drawing of one of the rooms in your home
- Two drawings of animals
- Two shaded drawings of a person you know
- Character design - a design of one original character in three different action poses
- Five pieces of original artwork - the pieces selected should best demonstrate a range of artistic abilities and sensibilities

Domestic Student Academic Requirements:

Successful completion of a BC secondary program (Grade 12) or the equivalent; or
Be at least 19 years of age by the first day of the first semester of attendance; or
Successful completion of an A.B.E. (Adult Basic Education) or G.E.D.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

English is the language of instruction at Langara College. All applicants are required to be proficient in listening, reading, speaking, and writing in English at a post-secondary level.

Most programs fall into one of the three categories below. Refer to the 'Admissions' tab of the program listing for the full requirements or see our complete list of programs by category.

Category 1: Must meet one of the English Language Requirements below.
- English First Peoples 12 - 70%
- English Studies 12 - 70%
- Literary Studies 12 - 70%
- Langara English Test (LET) - 3
- Langara English Course - A minimum "S" grade in ENGL 1107 or 1110; or a minimum "C" grade in ENGL 1120
- English (Post-Secondary Transfer) - C-
- International Baccalaureate - IB ENGL A (HL or SL): 3; IB ENGL LIT & PERFORM (SL): 3
- Advanced Placement - AP ENGL LIT & COMP: 2; AP ENGL LANG & COMP: 2
- GCSE O-Level English, GCSE English Language B - C
Category 2: Students must demonstrate English-language proficiency with one of the following:
- TOEFL (paper-based) with a total score of 570 or higher, and a minimum of 55 each for Reading, Listening, and Writing (4.0 on Test of Written English)
- TOEFL (internet-based) with a total score of 90 or higher, and a minimum of 22 in Listening, 22 in Reading, 21 in Speaking, and 21 in Writing
- IELTS 6.5 with no band less than 6.0
- CAEL 60 overall with essay 60
- LPI (Language Proficiency Index) Level 4 with essay 24
- 1B English Al or A2 (HL or SL) with a score of 4
- Advanced Placement:
  - English Language and Composition with score of 3
  - English Literature and Composition with score of 3
- LET (Langara English Test) Level 2
- Successful completion of LEAP 8
