Program Overview

The Fine Arts Diploma at Langara College is a comprehensive two-year program designed to provide students with a solid foundation in art and design. This program emphasizes hands-on skills, materiality, and ethical practices, all within a supportive community of makers, learners, and thinkers. Students will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of artistic processes and develop a strong portfolio that showcases their work. The program is delivered in a full-time format, with options for part-time study, allowing flexibility for students to tailor their educational experience.

Program Structure

The Fine Arts Diploma program is structured to accommodate both full-time and part-time students, with the following key features:

  • Program Length: 2 years
  • Delivery: Full-time and part-time options available
  • Start Dates: January and September
  • Enrolment: Limited enrolment to ensure personalized attention

In the full-time program, students typically take 4-6 classes per term, which requires a commitment of at least 4 hours of homework for each studio class. Some studios, such as ceramics and sculpture, necessitate working in the studio rather than at home. For part-time students, the program allows for a more flexible pace, with 2-3 classes per term.
