Academic Requirements

To apply for the Visual and Digital Media Arts program at Georgian College, applicants must meet the following academic requirements:

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature student status.
Grade 12 English (C or U).
Mature students, non-secondary school applicants (19 years or older), and home school applicants may also be considered for admission. Eligibility may be met by applicants who have taken equivalent courses, upgrading, completed their GED, and equivalency testing.
Applicants who have taken courses from a recognized and accredited post-secondary institution and/or have relevant life/learning experience may also be considered for admission.

For international students, it is essential to contact LOA Portal's advisors for any clarification and support regarding specific requirements.

Additionally, please note that transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Students are also required to purchase art materials such as paints and canvas on an ongoing basis. A personal tablet and stylus are required for digital drawing, with recommendations for an Apple product to run the app, Procreate. Equivalent Android devices can also be used with a different drawing app.

All Georgian College students are required to bring their own device (BYOD) that meets the technology requirements for their program. This ensures preparedness for in-class, online, and hybrid learning activities.

Language Requirements

At Georgian College, applicants for the College Diploma - Visual And Digital Media Arts (VDMA) program must demonstrate proficiency in English. The following English language tests are accepted:

Graduate of Level 8 of Georgian’s GAAS – English for Academic Purposes: 60% in certificate or completion of level 8 with 70% or higher

Pearson Test of Academic English (PTE): 58
Cambridge English: C1 Advanced (CAE): 170
