Program overview
The Academic English Program (AEP) at Lakehead University is designed to equip learners with the essential English language skills required for success in university-level courses. This program goes beyond basic English, focusing on the development of complex language features and academic skills. It targets all four language areas: reading, writing, listening, and speaking, while also enhancing critical thinking, research skills, and effective academic writing. The AEP is offered at both the Thunder Bay and Orillia campuses, catering to students who do not meet the university's English language requirements.
