Program Overview

Humber’s Design Foundation certificate program is designed to equip students with essential skills to channel their creativity into the world of design. This program is perfect for individuals who have a keen interest in visual art and design, whether they aim to enhance their portfolio or explore various design disciplines while contemplating their future career paths. With a comprehensive curriculum led by experienced faculty, students gain a broad-based preparatory education in design. Throughout the program, students will develop vital design skills, techniques, and processes, while also learning about diverse professional career options. A significant focus is placed on creating and refining a comprehensive portfolio that showcases their work and creativity.

Program Structure

The Design Foundation program spans 2 semesters and offers a blend of theoretical and practical learning experiences. The program is structured as follows:

  • Start Dates: January and September
  • Online Option Available
  • Work-Integrated Learning opportunities, including:
    • Field Experiences
    • Professional Practicum
    • Optional Co-operative Education

This program allows students to engage in real-world environments through various academic, community, and industry partnerships. The optional co-op component enables students to gain paid work experience in their field of study, enhancing their skill set and employability.
