The Enhanced Practice for Internationally Educated Nurses is a unique two-year graduate certificate program designed for experienced internationally educated nurses who hold a four-year bachelor's degree in nursing. This program aims to equip students with essential nursing knowledge and skills necessary to practice within the Canadian healthcare system, particularly focusing on caring for seniors throughout the continuum of care. Students will engage in active learning environments, including nursing labs and immersive simulation suites, while developing professional practices such as nursing assessment, intervention, care planning, and critical inquiry. The program is aligned with the College of Nurses of Ontario's professional standards and entry-to-practice competencies for Registered Nurses.

The Enhanced Practice for Internationally Educated Nurses program is structured as follows:

  • Program Length: 2 years
  • Delivery Mode: Hybrid
  • Field Placement: Over 400 placement hours in diverse healthcare settings, including medicine, surgery, complex continuing care, and long-term care.
  • Unique Course: Transition to Nursing Practice course, approved by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).

This program emphasizes hands-on clinical experience and prepares students for the nursing registration examination through NCLEX and OSCE style courses. Students will learn through various evaluation methodologies, including scholarly writing, case studies, projects, presentations, and simulated patient encounters.
